I live on Finch Meadow Farm, nestled in the Skykomish valley and surrounded by the most amazing scenery. This is my dream farm which I have wanted my entire life. I share my life here with my wonderful, supportive husband, Stuart. Our two children have grown and gone. My daughter still lives locally, so I get to see my granddaughter fairly regularly. My son is in the US Air Force, currently stationed in Guam. He is making the most of his stay there; in his spare time he is learning to SCUBA dive, hiking through jungles, and playing paintball with his friends.
Now that the kids are gone, I can spend all my spare time doing what I love best, playing with horses! I currently have 12: eight minis and four full-sized. My favorite of all time horse sport is Combined Driving! At this time, I have one of my minis conditioned and training for the sport. Her name is KLS High Altitude, or Ally for short. Ally is my best little girlfriend. We have a great time together, that is for sure!
I also show in Miniature breed shows, where I have been blessed with some excellent horses to exhibit. Last year one of my mares went Reserve National Champion, surely one of my biggest dreams come true.
I feel so lucky that I have discovered the wonderful breed of Miniature horses. I discovered them in 2003, after attending a conference where a blind woman was there with her guide horse. That horse is called Panda, and she was trained using the method of clicker training. I decided to get a small mini myself to demonstrate clicker training with. He could travel in the back of my minivan. We did that for a year, when I felt the need to obtain a couple more minis. Then I started driving, and doing combined driving, and I think it is fair to say that my whole life revolves around driving and the horses these days!
