Peter & Mickey Lofgren

Bar

Back in the 60's we started out showing Appaloosas, Welsh Ponies and Quarter Horses. They competed in performance shows, gaming events and driving in the horse show world, both open and breed. After several quite successful years of doing this (Local, National and International), we got together with a group of like minded folks primarily located in the Carnation, WA area and through Equestrian Institute.. (around 1985) we put on the first ADS.. CDE in the northwest. Many of this group are still active today: John and Tarrah Baker, Tom and Kathy Shives, Jim and Lin McBride, Don Eckhardt, and Callie Jordan. Am sure I missed a couple of folks.

We have been competing in CDE's since then, primarily Peter with various Welsh pony singles or pairs. Now we go as far as California to Calgary, Alberta, for our annual competitions.

Mickey had miniature horses for a few years, thanks to Donna Stormer introduced her to some for sale in Oregon on a trip one day. Then with a purchase from Mountain Meadows, and the tremendous and talented training from Dorothy Whiteman we got Coleman, our miniature that we bred to mares for a bit, then gelded and drove for a couple of years.

He was terrific. We have since sold him to a gal in PA who is having a terrific time! We have had several stallions here at the farm over the years that we stood for breeding, but no longer really want to deal with them so have moved them on to other owners.

Having only four horses left on our remodeled and updated old dairy farm, we were looking out at several stalls of different sizes and configurations and thought… "hmmm, with the scenic river running by, this might be a good place for folks to stop overnight !".. Thus began our newest venture in the horse world. Soooo… we set up to become a Horse Motel. Our location only three miles off of Interstate 5 about halfway between Portland, OR. and Seattle, WA makes it a convenient location for those traveling through Washington in either direction.
